Around Murudeshwar
Murudeshwar is a destination in Karnataka with huge tourism potential. Flanked by Maravanthe on the south and Gokarna on the north and many places around it just over an hours drive away Murudeshwar is an ideal destination to head for on a long weekend break from Bangalore!
Well known for the sunsets and sunrise, Maravanthe 50 kms from Murudeshwar is growing in popularity as a tourist destination in south Karnataka. The scenic Maravanthe beach is naturally the main attraction in Maravanthe. The beach in Maravanthe in essence is relatively empty and rocks are stacked up at the highway side to protect the highway during high tides. Souparnika river runs parallel to the Maravanthe beach and NH17 and makes it a popular stop on NH17
Half Moon Beach - Gokarna
Half moon beach - a crescent shaped cove is a rocky stretch and a very small stretch of beach on the way to Paradise beach from Om beach. Half moon beach is inaccessible by road and only means to reach other than on foot is by boat!
Jog Falls - Asia's Tallest Falls
Asias tallest uni-tiered waterfalls - Jog Falls, is where the Sharavati river plunges to a 253mts drop in four distinct cascades, Raja Rani Rocket and Roarer. In the Shimoga district of Karnataka, Jog Falls is about 80 Kms from Murudeshwar. Jog falls is also called Gerusoppe Falls or Jogada Falls. During monsoons, the falls are hidden behind a thin veil of mist, surrounded by lush green vegetation, giving the place a mystical aura. The Linganmakki Dam is near Jog falls.
Gokarna - the land of hippie sadhus!
Approximately 50 Kms from Karwar is Gokarna one of the primere beach destinations in Karnataka. With many secluded beaches and some of the most revered temples in Karnataka Gokarna has two shades about it. The tranquility of the temples is on one side and the vibrancy and youth of the tourist destination on the other and its prudent not to mix the two!
